The first step of our design process to shape the new vision for Mino’Weesini was a series of collaborative design workshop to identify existing and local resources.

Mapping Resources Together
1.Mapping Food Resources
Collaborative mind-mapping around the concepts of food security and resources, followed by identifying current and potential food resources.
2.Mapping Community
Collaborative mapping and clustering around what community means, where it happens, and aspects that nurture a community, shape its identity, and make it a place of belonging. We mapped where community happens in the neighbourhood to expand on its characteristics and dynamics.
3.Mapping Care
Sharing stories about experiences of care and how it is felt. We worked together to map instances of care around the neighbourhood and identified resources for care to paint an image of what it looks like in our communities.
JANUARY 30TH, 2025
Identifying Needs and Desires
A workshop to identify connections and overlaps between individual and communuty needs and desires, and ways they could b addressed. This session included a pivotal conversation led by participants to reflect on the importance of including voices from diverse community members in the co-design process.

Indoor Picnic
Sharing a meal and conversations with neighbours to reflect on experiences at Mino'Weesini and areas to be strengthened to create a stronger sense of community, and sharing dreams to create a space for belonging and safe connection.

Idea Generation
Designing together, we created vibrant visions for the future of Mino'Weesini as a space for sharing, wellness, empowerment, access, creativity, and community connections.

Idea Evolution
Learning from the contributions of the previous co-design sessions, we continued to build on our community visions that imagines Mino'Weesini as an anchor in the community for social connection, sharing, and learning, then explored ways to bring these ideas to life!
